Since 2006, the African American Youth Harvest Foundation (AAYHF) has remained steadfast in its mission to empower children, youth, and families through a comprehensive, community-centered approach to care. What began as a vision rooted in equity, dignity, and opportunity has grown into The Harvest Model—a nationally recognized framework that integrates education, trauma recovery, mentoring, workforce pathways, and wraparound supports.

The is a nonprofit organization dedicated to intentionally providing hands-on service through school and community-based programs that enhance the quality of life for African American and low-income youth and families. Our programs focus on mentoring, STEM, digital media, workforce readiness, mental health support, wraparound services, and family stabilization.
AAYHF serves youth and families from ages 5 through adulthood through a variety of educational, mentoring, wellness, and workforce development programs.
Most AAYHF programs begin with a general intake and enrollment process. However, some specialty programs require a separate application process.
In order to participate in the Urban University Summer Camp, families must complete a separate application process. Registration is not accepted through the normal intake process.
Applications for Urban University Summer Camp typically open the week before Spring Break each year. Space is limited and spots fill quickly, so families are encouraged to register immediately once applications become available.
Once all camp spots are filled, applicants may be placed on a waiting list. Due to the popularity of the program, we strongly encourage early registration.

All programs are free with the exception of Urban University; there is a small program fee to cover costs for facility use. Financial assistance may be available for qualifying families.
We welcome volunteers who are passionate about serving youth and families. Opportunities include mentoring, tutoring, food distribution, special events, STEM support, digital media, and administrative assistance.
Volunteer applications and background checks may be required depending on the role.
We are always looking for community and corporate partners to support youth and family programs through sponsorships, donations, workforce partnerships, internships, mentoring, and volunteerism.
